Hey y'all, there's a new listserve for Atlanta-area Queer Organizers,
    groups, organizations and mover-and-shakers!

It's for Atlanta-area organizations primarily serving queers, gay men, lesbians, trans, bisexual, lgbt, intersex and related communities. This listserve will facilitate cross-publicity, schedule coordination, and sharing of ideas, resources, and info.

ALL organizations serving any of those communities are welcome: small, large, non-profit, for-profit*, for people of color, for seniors, for youth, for executives, for workers, cultural, academic, recreational, for women, men, trans and other!

We'd love YOU to join if you're involved with any queer/lgbt-serving organizations in the greater Atlanta area! We hope to cross-post events, get advice, coordinate schedules, and help form a more cohesive relationship among the MANY queer groups in Atlanta (since we don't have a community center).

Think of it as a virtual LGBT Community Center in Atlanta.

Please subscribe by sending an email to:
    AtlantaQueerOrgs-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

*for-profit groups are welcome if they produce queer events or otherwise help create queer community and resources in Atlanta. Spammers are obviously not welcome. Also, we ask for-profit businesses to limit their postings to community events and resources. Advertisements will be treated as spam.

    when I get Alzheimers
I'll be glad to have this:

The life-changing events in my life, in convenient bulleted form (sheesh I've been in Marketing too long!):
    - moving to Macon, Ga from Riverside, CA at age 6
    - visiting Washington, D.C., and Nova Scotia
    - going to fundamentalistXtianboardingschool at age 11
    - deciding to live with my dad in Tarzana, CA at age 13. yup, that's the Valley in the 80's, fersure. Talk about Fast Times at Ridgemont High!
    - going to UCLA on scholarship, falling in with intellectual punkrockers, deathrockers and misfits, moving into the Co-op
    - going to the Scream Club and other late-80s underground clubs in LA
    - taking drugs and thankfully losing my Georgia naivete finally
    - moving to Atlanta, Georgia and sobriety, hanging out with more punkrockers and misfits (Hi Vivan!)
    - spending a month in Aachen, Germany
    - visiting NYC in the just-past-heyday of clubkid wonderland
    - screwing up the courage to call that phone number in the back of the Creative Loafing for info about sadomasochism, and going to my first bdsm event
    - moving to Athens, Ga for school and journalism school and meeting my first girlfriend
    - taking my student loan for my last semester of school and moving to the epicenter of lesbo s&m, San Francisco
    - moving into a bonafide punkrock commune, and diving headfirst into bdsm and body mod
    - finally getting together with my hot, brilliant goth-esque geeky polyamorous girlfriend and boyfriend
    - meeting Pat Califia and other incredible revolutionaries
    - traveling to Amsterdam, Berlin, Mexico City, Vancouver, Spain, visiting squats and staying with friends
    - living Barcelona for 4 months with my girlfriend
    - being depressed, broke, and broken when I came back to SF
    - working at Stormy Leather for peanuts but loving it
    - exploring the 7 vices with a cabal of 6 others in the magic time leading up to Y2K
    - yachting around the British Virgin Islands, after just narrowly being allowed in the country due to anti-dreadlock laws. Really.
    - my highpaid corporate job in the dotcom bubble
    - a weeklong tour of California with my good fag friend
    - living on unemployment for a full year after the bubble burst
    - living in Brooklyn for 4 months
    - meeting the punkrock Daddy of my dreams and fantasies
    - I'll forever regret choosing to work rather than participating in the incredibly empowering 3 days of riots in SF when the Iraq war started
    - moving back to the South -- something I swore I'd never do -- to be with Ria
    - getting a muscle car for my birthday!
    - getting proposed to at the top of the Eiffel Tower (BEFORE TomKat) and going to Barcelona sick as a dog but powering thru on cold medicine and alcohol
    - getting married in a cemetary with 250 friends plus most of my family, with an escort of 7 classic cars
    - 3 months of pure insanity and being the most organized I've ever been in my life to produce MondoHomo indie queer culture festival here in Atlanta
    - finally going to Queeruption, camping on Vancouver Island
    1:06 am
The last time I had this feeling it was the fall of 1999. I told my friends in our mutual 7 Vices club that it was a special time, one that wouldn't last. We were all in love with each other and with vice, with extravagance... and sadly it did all unravel, just a few weeks after the pinnacle of Y2K...
so now heed my warning Atlanta. Take full advantage of this frisky fall. It won't come this easily again...

    geekiness abounds
Okay, with my obsession (born of boredom at work) with online lists and such, I've found a list of Top 10 Atlanta Restaurants I actually agree with!

    http://atlanta.chowbaby.com/10_2006/ArticlesNew.asp?lr=1&id=486

and, I'm putting together my list of "Bizarro Southeast" attractions, using Yahoo's Trip Planner. It lets you save a list of destinations (and I'm already logged in via Yahoo), AND it lets you browse other folks' lists. Lemme tell you, I got some gems from some of the "Helen, Ga" lists!

    Check it out:
    http://travel.yahoo.com/trip-view-974800-bizarro_southeast

oh yeah, and I picked up, not only 5 potential PinkEye attendees, but also a proposal to be interviewed for a podcast!, merely by posting PinkEye to Upcoming.org.

I've known about it for awhile, but just started using it to keep
track of upcoming events, let others know about MY upcoming events...
and more importantly... it suggests other events I might be interested
in, based on the ones I've already chosen (Amazon-style)! So it's
already helped me find a couple bands playing who I LOVE but didn't
    know were coming in town!

What are YOU doing for V-Day?
Whatcha doin for Valentines' Day in Atlanta?

Why not satisfy your need for romance, your smart brain, and your sweet tooth all at once?

May I suggest a program of gorgeous, sexy, smart indie Southern movies -- that you can't see anywhere else, they're not on Netflix, eBay, or for sale! -- along with champagne and red velvet cupcakes? It's a $15 date plan ($7 per person), and a great alternative to all the overpriced Valentines Schmaltz!!!

    DIRTY SOUTH REPRESENTS:
WHEN ART AND KINK COLLIDE AT VALENTINES' DAY EROTIC MOVIES

Whether you're an art-lover, or an erotic adventurer, you won't want
to miss Valentine's Day with the PinkEye event "Dirty South",
featuring a program of Southern-made queerotica. We're especially
excited to host Atlanta filmmaker/photographer Teri Rice's 15-year
anniversary showing of her ground-breaking film 'The Kindling Point,"
    shot here in Atlanta!

This showing will be the never-before seen director's cut of the movie
that earned Ms. Rice international acclaim. 'The Kindling Point'
(1993) frames intimately acted out rituals of lesbian sexuality in the
context of artful dominance and submission. It was shown as part of
the Whitney Museum of American Art Biennial, and chosen as one of the
top 10 films of the year by the Village Voice. This program also
features other shorts by Rice, as well as the world premier of her
sweetly romantic 'Signals'. Rice will be at the show to introduce
    her pieces and answer questions.

Also showing will be "Squishy Does P*rno" (1994), another
ground-breaking erotic piece created by a New Orleans art collective
headed by director Wash Westmoreland. "Squishy" shows that sexy can
also be smart, sassy, subcultural AND pansexual. Director Todd Haynes
("Velvet Goldmine," "Far From Heaven") called it "a lush explosion of
    radical sex and cinema."

PinkEye is also thrilled to host the sizzling hot burlesque duo Good
N' Plenty performing their stunning sexy diva stunts. Add the tasty
red velvet cupcakes and champagne we'll be serving, and you have the recipe for
an unforgettable Valentines' evening to treat your sweetie!

Only $7 (sliding scale) at Atlanta's cutting edge Eyedrum Gallery.
This program is so hot we're limiting it to 18-and-overs, please.

Note: EVERYONE of all genders and orientations is invited to this!

    When: Wednesday February 14th, 8:30pm - 10:30pm
Where: Eyedrum Gallery, 290 Martin Luther King Jr Dr S, 30312,

    Your friendly consumer reporter
Okay, folks, here's the results of my recent survey of prescription prices near me in Atlanta.

Prices are for 30 count (30 pills) of 300mg
Wellbutrin XL --- Bupropion XL (the generic version of Wellbutrin

(ranked by lowest to highest generic price)

    Eckerd: $180 --- $120
    Target: $161 --- $134
    Walgreens: $182 --- $137
    CVS: $177 --- $139
    Publix: $172 --- $145
    Kroger: $185 --- $156

I didn't check Walmart or Kmart, who are both rumored to have exceptionally low prescription prices. And Clark Howard actually advises folks to order from reliable Canadian pharmacies for namebrand, but not generic, medications.

    I've got the PinkEye!
    .

OMIGOSH PinkEye Movie Salon last night was another incredible night! We had 50+ folks, 4 great short movies and 1 long one, 1 Happy Birthday, and 2 delicious performances! And folks came right at 7:30, and tons of folks stayed till 11:30!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I wanted to share what a queer ally said about it:

    ===
PinkEye so far seems to be a great deal for everyone--cool movies on daring subjects bringing a host of new faces into Eyedrum… Keep bringing it on.

I really liked the last film last night [By Hook or By Crook] --though the mood was claustrophobic and the pace oh-so-slo, it really did a good job of taking viewers out of their comfy worlds and into a dimension where nothing is pinned down.

It was also interesting to watch the [female] friend I was sitting with flinch sharply during some of the "Phineas Slips" film. There was someone I considered well past shockable, suddenly hitting her limit at a place I didn't think was all that way out--right after an interesting conversation we had about how a pansexuality epidemic could shake the walls of Western culture. Talkin' vs. Walkin', I suppose, which is part of the challenge your programming brings to our usually much tamer artspace....
    ===

presumably he was talking about some of the scenes in Phineas Slipped depicting peeing, dildo-sucking or nonconsensual buttsex?
